Caring for Your Boiling Water Tap
This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about cleaning and maintaining your boiling water tap so it looks great and works perfectly. You’ll learn about:
- Routine cleaning
- Troubleshooting common issues (including limescale)
- Maintaining the boiler tank
- Replacing the water filter
Cleaning Your Tap
Everyday care
Your tap needs very little upkeep to stay in top condition. To keep it clean:
- Daily:
- Wipe away food splashes or debris around the tap and its base with a soft sponge.
- Weekly:
- Mix a drop of washing-up liquid or hand soap with warm water on a non-abrasive sponge.
- Gently clean the tap from base to spout.
- Rinse with warm water and dry with a soft cloth (microfibre is ideal).
⚠️ Avoid harsh cleaners (like bleach) or abrasive sponges, as they can scratch or discolour your tap.
It’s also a good idea to run all tap functions briefly—hot, cold, boiling, and, if you own a 4-in-1 tap, filtered water—to check for any changes in flow or temperature.
Maintaining the Boiler Tank
Once installed, your boiling water tank requires very little attention, but regular checks will help prevent problems.
- Monthly: Inspect connections and fittings to ensure they’re secure and leak-free.
- Descaling (recommended every 2nd or 3rd filter change):
- Switch off and disconnect the boiler.
- Disconnect the two pipes above the boiler and unplug the power cable.
- Empty the tank into the sink.
- Fill with warm water and a descaling solution (available from DIY stores). Leave for 4–8 hours.
- Empty and rinse thoroughly (repeat up to 3 times).
- Reconnect and power on. The boiler may display E3—this is normal.
- Prime the system by running the boiling water function until water flows steadily.
- Allow the tank to reheat to its set temperature. Once it does, your tap is ready to use again.
Replacing the Filter
Your boiling water tap uses a filter to protect the boiler and improve water quality:
- 3-in-1 taps use the Verossi standard filter.
- 4-in-1 taps use the Verossi standard filter.
Filters remove minerals, chemicals, and impurities, helping prevent limescale while ensuring water tastes fresh.
Replacement frequency
- Hard water areas: every 3 months.
- Soft water areas: every 6 months.
Signs you need a replacement:
- Slower water flow
- Filter symbol on the display screen
- Boiler beeping every 12 hours
⚠️ Water softeners should not be used with this system, as they affect performance and void the warranty.
How to replace your filter
- Turn off the tap’s isolation valve.
- Switch off the boiler tank at the mains.
- Unscrew and remove the old filter. Dispose of responsibly.
- Screw in the new filter securely.
- Reopen the isolation valve.
- Switch the boiler tank back on.
- Run all functions of the tap to check performance.

How Boiling Water Taps Work
A boiling water tap system includes a boiler tank (usually fitted beneath your sink) that connects to your mains supply. Water passes through the filter, is heated to between 75–98°C (depending on your settings), and kept ready until needed.
Our 2.4L tanks hold enough water for 5–6 cups and can reheat in under 5 minutes—making them perfect for:
- Brewing tea, coffee, or hot chocolate
- Filling hot water bottles
- Cooking pasta or noodles
- Blanching vegetables
- Sterilising chopping boards, knives, or baby bottles
The biggest advantage? Instant boiling water, no kettle required—saving time, clearing counter space, and making life in the kitchen more convenient.
✨ With just a little regular care, your boiling water tap will stay spotless, efficient, and long-lasting.
